Hello Dear Karma Associate,
The Canadian Bar Association's Conference was the most enjoyable to date! While we fell in love with St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, we also very much enjoyed the people and the uniqueness of Calgary and Alberta.
On the way, we visted Merrit, Kamloops, Chase and Revelstoke and although we called our associates in these locations we were pleased to meet process server, Donna Spear, and enjoyed a coffee with her in a wonderful shop, once a court house, in Chase, BC. We also delivered directories to law offices and family legal centers. While at the conference we were delighted to meet with several of our associates. Upon our arrival in Calgary, we met up with Randy Milnes of Calgary Document Service who was a tall, handsome man who looks every inch in charge, and owner of a very well known and successful legal support service company. We had a wonderful visit with him the night before the conference at our booth, which was in a great location this year, thanks to Blair, manager of the convention organization, Intertask. We enjoyed visiting with Rose and Mike of Canadian Process Serving and the group from Dye & Durham. It was a pleasure to meet Bruce Mattia, for the first time, of KVP Registry Services, also a vital part of our directory services.
Lawyers, judges, larger, associated companies, legal services and legal aid representatives streamed by our booth all day long and were happy to stop and chat with us. We made many new connections and new legal friends. Having worked hard to get everything ready, which included a new booth design, creatively and thematically centered around our fishing resort & spa prize, a new vertical banner, legal support company sponsorship certificates for Calgary Document Service, GTS - Global Tracing Solutions, specializing in skip tracing, Lormit Personal Services, with a new digital signing form, WNS Property Services and Process Serving, Wolfco Bailiffs, Collections and Process Services, as well as Borg Process Servers. which looked very handsome on our booth wall, hand outs and goodies, in our signature red bags, which included, of course, Canada's Legal Support Directory. It took time, effort and resources, to put this all together but we felt well prepared and ready to enjoy the legal professionals that we were doing business with, which was a great experience. We have learned a great deal in the last three years of conventions! We also heard again and again that legal professionals are using our site and print directory, on a regular basis, which is good news for you all - and wonderful to hear!
Through our efforts over the last three years, The legal community has learned that we are an honest and reliable company to deal with, which, believe it or not, is quite a big step for a directory service! This year everyone we spoke with seemed quite relaxed with us and they all accepted our package with thanks and said that they would find our directory very useful in their offices. We offered a great special in order to encourage more orders next edition coming up in December/January for our winter edition. We have begun our e-mails and follow up calls already and the phones are buzzing.
The winner of our contest was at the CBA Conference when we drew his name, which has never happened before, and Wayne Onchulenko of Levene Tadman Gutkin Golub LLP in Winnipeg, Manitoba, was really excited about the April Point Fishing Resort and Spa Holiday, on the north east side of Vancouver island. The Oak Bay Marine Group sponsored us with this trip and we thank them very much. Have a great holiday, Wayne, and it was a pleasure to meet you at the CBA Conference!
It was also most interesting to meet the Nepali delegation which consisted of 8 lawyers and the president of the Nepal Legal Association. When they heard that Andy had been to Nepal they quickly turned into the tourism delegation! I took pictures of them as they were so friendly and colourful in their colourful national dress, some of which they wore at the CBA conference.
We attended many of the important events for networking, including the parties given by Davis LLP at the Calgary Art Gallery and Field Law's event for all OutLAWS at the Saltlik, where everyone was cutting loose! The Heritage Park Opening Ceremonies were wonderful as was the Jann Arden Concert, where Jann was on her best behavior! as well as the late night party at Plush Lounge. We also went to the Calgary Zoo, which has a beautiful Snow Leopard, and, of course, many other animals. The new giraffe building is attractive and unique outside, and inside, too. Calgary has a pretty center area and the buildings are very, very tall in the extemely dense core. The Calgary Tower, while imposing and certainly outstanding, is being challenged over and over again for height! Calgary has a beautiful center area and we enjoyed walking there, both to and from the convention.
The Alberta mountains and prairies were fabulous! I have 240 pictures to prove it! Scroll down to see our convention photos and a few others, for this year on our About Us page. Discovered by chance a new road, the Rocky Mountain Highway. I felt that it was wonderful; for me even more lovely than the drive from Banff to Jasper, that is, after the thunder, lightening and rain stopped!
A very special thank you to our companies who sponsored us at this year's legal conference: Calgary Document Service, who also had his name on one side of our giveaway bags, GTS - Global Tracing Solutions, Lormit Personal Services, WNS Property Services, Wolfco Bailiffs and Borg Process Servers. We noticed many of our legal visitors reading your certificates and we were the only company to have such wonderful supporters in evidence in this way. Thank you all once more.
Although we really fell in love with Newfoundland last year, this year was equal to that in its own special way. Loved the mountains near Banff and the lovely, flat, golden prairie - such contrasts! And once more, such friendly people both at the conference and everywhere we went. Well, we had a good business trip with a little sightseeing. What else could I ask for? Karma has been good to us - and we are really thankful for that.
I hope that you had an enjoyable summer. Summer is a jewel - and I hope that you were able to enjoy some of it. Well, on to autumn now, and back to work! Yes, it is already busy and the phones continue to ring! Since back we have had several calls for help in accessing a legal support company - and yesterday there were over 700 pages viewed on our web site!
Thank you all for your continued support and business. We moved our work place this summer for a while, but continued to work for you, in a different way. Now we are here in the office again. If you have changes or updates or wish more advertising now, as we grow our numbers, services and connections, please call us at 1-888-891-4141 or e-mail us at jkarma@processserverscanada.com. I am confident that we can help you more than ever with your important day to day business.
One final note, we are very pleased to have been asked to supply around 40 of Canada's Legal Support Directories to the the speakers at the 19th annual Indigenous Bar Association's Legal Conference in Victoria, BC, where we will be in attendance at our booth from the 26th to the 28th of October, this fall, at the Empress Hotel. We very much look forward to this important event.
Much good Karma!
Joan Bennett and Andy Gifford
